Movie Review --- Up

Watched Up with Amanda, Kai Yen and Eng Hoe this afternoon at Golden Screen Cinema, One Utama.

Mmm, to me, the film was not as great as I thought, albeit it had received many good reviews from the movie critics. Maybe because I was expecting more from Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios, since their previous productions like Toy Story and The Incredibles were huge successes in worldwide.

Some jokes were quite hilarious, but most of them were...... a bit lame. So honestly, unlike Amanda and Eng Hoe, I did not laugh much throughout the whole movie. Maybe I was just being too emo or not in the mood at all. Who cares?? =.="

My only advice to the producers was : There is a distinction between being "hilarious" and "lame". Although they somehow might sound the same as "funny", they are still, two different things. Completely different.
.
Apart from that, I also found out that some moments were actually quite heart-warming, especially when Carl recalled the dream of his late wife, Ellie, to build their house at the top of Paradise Falls, South America. I knew this might sound a bit embarrassing, but the fact was, I did feel touched and shed tears when I watched these scenes in the cinema.
.
I hoped the three of them did not see my ugly crying face. HAHA. =P

Now let's put aside the emotion thingy.
.
How was the plot? Well, I must give credit to the writers as the plot was exceptionally brilliant and out-of-the-ordinary. Floating house, weird-minded explorer, talking dogs, chocolate-loving birds, ...... I mean, hello, how many people on Earth do you think can come up with such a creative story line??? At least for sure, this is something Malaysia's film producers and advertisers lack of. CREATIVITY!! How sad and pathetic......
.
And I knew most of the Science students would find the story illogical or does not make sense at all, but come on!! It's just an animation movie!! Why couldn't you people just forget all the theories and facts you had learnt from the textbooks for a while and enjoy the film?? Sometimes, you just have to relax, for the love of your brain cells OK??!!

Anyway, back to our topic. Is the movie still worth watching?? Well, I would say 'yes', if you are the one who will study the meaning and message behind a movie deeply. But it is certainly a 'no' from me, for those who spend RM10 and watch movie just to kill their time.

Rating : 7/10

.
I still can't believe that the voice of the boy scout, Russell was narrated by this adorable kid, Jordan Nagai. Guessed what?? He is only 9 years old but has already made big bucks in the movie industry!!! He even has his own page in wikipedia.org!!! Boy, I SALUTE YOU!!!
